This Cavecon / Cavesson is a lightweight French cavesson with a goose strap, the padded chain of which lies smoothly around the horse's nose. In this "SOFT" version, the nose part has a little more padding than usual.
The Cavecon is recommended on the lunge or in handwork to explain a fine bend to the horse and to promote the position of the neck. The cavesson is also a great help for many classical or academic lessons at the high school with a gathering character.
The middle of the 3 rings of the nose piece can be freely rotated!
Incl. D-rings for buckling in bit straps!
Helpful important information about Cavecon:
A Cavecon is a “light cavesson” meaning that it is very light and delicately constructed. Due to the thinner contact surface, the impact is more direct than with a comparatively "heavy" more widely padded German cavesson.
Normally the chain links in the original common Cavecons are only covered in leather without any additional padding.
It is important to know that with a light Cavecon, even with additional padding, the solid components in the noseband can still be felt, but in a significantly reduced form.
If the Cavecon were to be padded too much, it would lose its desired effect for light cavessons.
This series is a compromise between the clear effect of a Cavecon with nose-friendly “padding”.
In our opinion, a Cavecon always belongs in the hands of an instructor who knows how a Cavecon works.
Leading a horse on the lunge at Caveçon requires skill and sensitivity on the part of the trainer.
If you are looking for a cavesson, for example to teach a young horse how to run calmly and attentively on the circle at the beginning of training, we do not recommend Cavecon for it.
Despite the metal components, it is not structurally very resilient and would certainly suffer damage if it were to break out or throw itself into a lunge.
Here you should use a cavesson that is much more solid, e.g. a heavier German cavesson or a serreta, which consists of a leather-covered, smooth flat iron.
